This is an exciting opportunity, in Global Specialty IT for an experienced Staff Software Engineer, with a strong background in Software Engineering and Application Support executing within the Agile operating model. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about technology, product development and can thrive in a fast-paced environment to support the maintenance and enhancement of ImageRight, our enterprise wide content management and workflow system.
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:
Work with colleagues and technical resources to define technical solutions that meet business requirementsParticipate in the design, development, testing and debugging of an application.Troubleshoot and ensure timely and effective resolutions of any project issues.Participate in code reviews, both of your own code and as a reviewer.Provide feedback and suggestions for process and product improvement.Conducts technical research on new technology for possible new aspects of a product or components needing redesign or updating.Prepare product documentation, support materials, and internal documentation.

Ensures quality of code written or reviewedAdheres to quality/technical team standardsMakes decisions in their area of responsibility that help maintainability, reuse, security and performanceAble to diagnose issues and provide solutions for multiple functional and technical areas within a productCan independently frame problems and perform relevant researchCurious and avid learnersCommunicate clearly to explain and defend design decisionsSelf-motivated and excellent problem-solversDriven to improve, personally and professionallyMentor and inspire others to raise the bar for everyone around themCollaborate with their peers, designing pragmatic solutionsOperate best in a fast-paced, flexible work environmentPrepare technical training and information sessions for other staffQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) or equivalent practical experience5+ Years experience in software developmentDesign and architecture knowledgeExperience with Agile software developmentHave an intense passion for innovating and crafting clean codeExperience with Enterprise Document Management tools (ImageRight or Similar)Experience with .NETExperience with VBScript or similarExperience with relational databases including SQLExperience with insurance industry workflowAre in-tune with high performance and high availability design/programmingHave experience in security best practices for software and data platformsEnjoy solving problems through the entire application stackAre interested and capable of learning other programming languages as needed.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$114,720 - $172,080
