Your Day to DayInspects IT equipment and prepares IT equipment for delivery to end user.Installs and maintains hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives.Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computers.Instructs and trains end users in proper use of all end user IT equipment, software, and manuals.Answers end user inquiries. Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems. Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.Provides companywide network support which includes installing networked application software, granting access to users, creating user groups, managing shared resources, installing peripherals, including setting up files and establishing file security rights.Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.Corrects data-entry errors and performs routine maintenance.Maintains inventory of company IT hardware and equipment.Refers major IT problems to Systems Administrator for correction.Assists in administering the local area network (LAN), diagnosing common network problems.Establishes network user accounts, user environments and directories.Provides users with network technical support responding to the needs and questions of end users regarding their access to and functionality of resources on the network.Assists in the installation, upgrading and configuration of network printing, directory structures, rights, security and software on file servers.Configures all IT equipment on jobsites including wiring jobsite trailers for network, installing and configuring networking equipment, deploying VPN and VoIP technology when needed, and supporting all end user devices on the jobsite.How You Contribute
Partner with other Support Specialists to organize tasks, solve problems and manage projects efficiently.Partner with the System Administrators and Director of Information Technology to ensure that all IT functions, projects and operations are running smoothly.Attend technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software and hardware product developments as approved by the Director of Information Technology.Organize tasks and resources efficiently, while remaining flexible as priorities shift, in order to effectively perform job duties.Demonstrate ability to be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels.Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Adhere to all company policies, including safety policies.Provide the Jacobsen Experience to staff, customers, and vendors.
Education & Experience
Position requires a high school education or GED. Experience working on personal computer conducting maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. Experience with assisting non-technical people on using applications and computers in a friendly manner, even under stressful situations.
