Patrol Officer Job Description City of Yazoo CityDEFINITION:To protect the lives and property of the citizens of Yazoo City by pursuing and apprehending individuals who break the law and then issue citations or give warnings. Report writing of incidents encountered by patrolling certain jurisdictions and investigating suspicious activity observed. Respond to dispatch calls from individuals.SUPERVISON RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

:Directly reports to the Sergeant, Captain(s) and Chief of Police of the Yazoo City Police Department.Receives general supervision and administrative direction from the Captain and Chief of Police.EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES

:Maintain regular patrols and responds to calls for serviceDirecting traffic at various scene incidentsRemain alert for any unusual, circumstances and or hazardous situationsConfrontations with criminals requiring being alert and obvious dangersReady to deal appropriately with other threatening situationsFace to face or witness death and suffering resulting from accidents and criminal behaviorShift work and accountability on or off shift scheduleWriting citations.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKNOWLEDGE:Extensive knowledge of the overall operations of the City of Yazoo including policies, procedures, and ordinancesGeneral law enforcement rules regulations and proceduresCompletion of State of Mississippi Certified Law Enforcement designationSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to maintain order and provide security in the City of Yazoo CityAbility to remain constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of threatening situationsAbility to produce written reports and provide administrative support to the Sergeant and CaptainAbility to use and properly care for firearm and other equipmentAbility to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elementsAbility to work in hazardous conditions or in life threatening situationsAbility to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or othersEXPERIENCE & GUIDELINES:High School diploma/GED with a minimum of one year experience as Police Officer TraineeGood physical ability and strength to walk, run, climb, crawl, or sit for extended periods as required by situationGood hearing and visual acuity necessary for observation and monitoring of assigned beat and or shift.Valid driver's licenseCLICK APPLY NOW!
