Database Administrator III

GXM is seeking a highly driven Database Administrator III to join our technical team. Our team is looking to welcome an experienced technical professional to work in support of GXM projects for government clients in the Fort Meade, MD area and in support of company-level efforts across project teams.
The Database Administrator III is responsible for designing and creating SQL tables, unstructured data systems, and data transmission interfaces for the interconnecting system associated with the prototype. They also ensure security measures by managing user access and backups and by implementing instance tuning and security controls to safeguard the data management system(s). The Database Administrator III collaborates closely with Software Development Teams to support their needs. Moreover, they provide planning and guidance to the Database Administration Team, reviewing work products and results to ensure quality and consistency. They collaborate with other Database Administrator Ills.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Architecture and Design:
Lead the design and implementation of new database architectures, including capacity planning, data modeling, and performance optimization strategies.Evaluate and recommend database technologies to meet evolving business needs.Collaborate with application development teams to ensure database alignment with application requirements.Database Administration:
Manage and maintain complex database environments across multiple platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).Perform database backups, recovery, and replication procedures to ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide timely resolution.Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce robust database security policies, including user access controls, data encryption, and audit trails.Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and industry standards.Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.Leadership and Mentorship:
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators.Lead database-related projects, including planning, execution, and documentation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data-related issues.Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of database concepts, including normalization, data integrity, and transaction management.Proficiency in advanced SQL query optimization techniques.Experience with database automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).Requirements
Must be US CitizenTS/SCI required; CI Poly desired9 years of experience
as a database administrator, with demonstrable expertise in managing complex enterprise-level databases.Qualifications:
Proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance database systems.Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.Relevant database certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) preferred.
