As a member of the

Human Resources Team , and reporting to the Chief People Officer, the

Director - Talent

leads the Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Talent Development functions of the organization to enhance the employee experience; Supports managers and employees in attaining both individual and organization objectives by providing leadership and expertise in the management of Johnstone's competitive advantage - our people.

Position responsibilities:

Talent Management:

Develops and implements talent review and workforce planning processes to ensure the organization has the talent needed to meet current and future organization needs. Partners with leadership to identify trends and anticipated changes, critical roles, high potential employees, and succession needs. Supports planning and budgeting processes to provide appropriate resources to address needs.Partners with managers to define job families, roles and career levels. Ensures job descriptions are up-to-date, and position information is accurate in the HRIS.Designs and implements performance management processes that ensure employees understand job expectations and performance standards. Manages performance evaluation systems and processes that provide feedback to employees, documentation of results, and inform compensation decisions.Serves as an advisor to managers in working productively with employees. Oversees employee relations programs to meet company objectives and legal requirements which may include: progressive counseling, ensuring employees have an avenue to resolve disagreements or issues, investigating and reviewing employee disagreements, and mediation to successfully resolve conflict.Tracks and analyzes workforce analytics to inform Talent strategies.Talent Acquisition:

Oversees the company recruitment function to attract and hire talent needed to meet company objectives. Establishes recruitment function metrics and goals, as well as annual budgets. Partners with the Recruitment Manager to develop company recruitment, assessment and hiring systems, and ensures stakeholders are aware of roles and responsibilities. Oversees administration of the Applicant Tracking System and record-keeping processes.Develops and implements a strategic recruitment plan aligned with organizational goals by establishing strong partnerships with leaders to understand talent requirements to proactively plan for future workforce needs.Implements and manages employer branding initiatives to attract top talent and enhance the candidate experience; Leverages data analytics to measure the effectiveness of recruiting strategies and refine methods as needed.Talent Development:

Develops and implements learning and development initiatives that enhance employee skills and ensure the organization has the skills and capabilities to meet current and future organization needs. Oversees activities and programs that support continuous learning and career progression. Partners with Johnstone University to leverage resources and technology across the Johnstone network.Develops and implements strategies to support the development of leaders at all levels of the organization. Documents and communicates leadership expectations and competencies, manages assessment processes, designs and implements programs to address development needs.Culture & Employee Engagement:

Leads the company's Employee Survey Program, including Annual Engagement, Lifecycle, and Pulse surveys. Partners with leaders to utilize employee feedback in setting priorities and designing improvement initiatives. Tracks and monitors analytics to measure impact of initiatives.Develops and implements strategies to create a productive culture that is aligned with organization values, including employee recognition programs, communications and events. Serves as sponsor of the Employee Engagement & Events Committee.Position requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Human Resources Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related discipline; 5 - 7 years of progressive experience in Talent Management, Talent Development, or Talent Acquisition, with at least 3 - 5 years in an HR Leadership role; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.A PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification is preferred, but not required for this role.Knowledge of Human Resource Management principles and best practices, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, and learning and development.Knowledge of and ability to use current Human Resource Information System (HRIS) platforms; Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred, but not required for this role.Knowledge of change management principles and techniques.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all aspects of employment-related laws and human resources best practices.Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others; defining problems, collecting data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; diagnosing and rectifying problems.Project management skills: establishing objectives, timelines and deadlines; action planning to meet deadlines; evaluating current and future positions and taking corrective action as necessary.Ability to collect and analyze relevant data, as well as draw actionable conclusions.Ability to fully understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insight, and translate requirements into actionable work efforts to achieve intended outcomes.Ability to listen to others to identify needs and concerns.Ability to communicate in order to influence othersAbility to establish positive and productive relationships with others.Ability to empower managers and employees to make informed decisions that are in line with company culture.Knowledge of and ability to apply human resource management principles, including recruiting, hiring, compensating, training and orienting, coaching, and managing the performance of employees.Johnstone Supply is strongly interested in hiring a great candidate that exhibits work behaviors & values that are conducive to building and maintaining a strong and effective company culture.
