The mission of the Allentown Parking Authority is to operate, monitor, and maintain convenient and accessible parking facilities and on-street parking opportunities within the City of Allentown. The Allentown Parking Authority works to balance the parking needs of residents, employees, business and property owners, and visitors while enforcing parking ordinances and providing appropriate access to parking.

The

Part-time Events Staff

are team members dedicated to providing efficient and reliable parking solutions to the community during events. We manage parking for a variety of events, and our goal is to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees. As part of the Event Staff team, you will be responsible for assisting with the organization and management of parking operations during special events. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that attendees have a positive experience by providing clear directions, managing parking flow, and maintaining safety standards. We are looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as part-time Event Staff. The Part-time Event Staff reports directly to the Manager/Supervisor of Events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Community Engagement:

-Act as an ambassador for the Parking Authority by providing courteous and helpful interactions with residents, visitors, and business owners

-Respond to public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, offering guidance and solutions where possible

Events Attendant:

-Greet event attendees and provide information about parking options and directions

-Direct vehicles to appropriate parking areas

-Monitor parking lots and facilities to ensure safety and orderliness

-Assist in set-up and breakdown of parking-related equipment (signs, cones, barricades, etc.)

-Handle cash transactions or operate electronic payment systems

-Provide exceptional customer service and address any inquiries or concerns from event attendees

-Collaborate with other event staff and supervisors to ensure smooth parking operations

-Report any issues or incidents to the supervisor promptly

-Must be able to work under limited supervision, be responsible, self-motivated, and self-disciplined

-Must be able to observe established rules and regulations

-Must be able to learn the geography of Allentown and be able to give accurate directions to citizens and visitors

Safety and Accessibility:

-Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines

-Report any hazards or issues in parking areas, such as broken meters or obstructed spaces, to a supervisor for resolution

Conflict Resolution:

-Handle disputes and challenging situations with tact and diplomacy, aiming to de-escalate tensions

-All other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK - Various Shifts Needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED

• Ability to remember and carry out oral and written instructions

• Must be able to learn and utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and all assigned hours, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Able to secure and handle cash

• Standing and walking for extended lengths of time

• Must be able to work in all weather conditions

Skills

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills

-Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

-Proficient in using technology, such as handheld devices for issuing citations

Salary Description

$21.00/hour
