Director of Nursing/Agency Supervisor
to join their growing team. Position Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing clinical operations. This role supervises nursing staff, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, and provides strategic and clinical direction to maintain and improve client care standards. As a leader within the agency, the DON also represents the agency during audits, oversees the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, and collaborates closely with agency ownership and administrators to maintain high-quality, efficient, and regulatory-compliant services. There is support from an Assistant Director of Nursing who focuses more on the regulatory aspects and several case managers. Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Compliance:
Serve as the supervising nurse, ensuring staff adherence to agency policies, federal/state regulations, and accreditation standards. Oversee clinical staff, including onboarding, training, and performance evaluations. Manage the QAPI program, implementing corrective action plans when necessary. Maintain availability during operating hours and ensure after-hours support.
Client Care and Clinical Operations:
Direct the implementation, assessment, and evaluation of client care services, ensuring timely admissions and reassessment of care plans. Review and approve OASIS assessments, patient care documentation, and physician orders. Consult with physicians regarding client care and manage lab results and other clinical updates.
Regulatory and Quality Assurance:
Represent the agency in audits by regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with licensure and accreditation. Oversee agency emergency preparedness and participate in policy review and case conferences.
Strategic Development and Community Relations:
Build relationships with referral sources and community health providers to enhance agency visibility and growth. Participate in community awareness events and collaborate with local, state, and national health organizations.
Administrative Duties:
Manage budget for medical supplies and ensure efficient utilization of EMR for client care scheduling and reporting. Coordinate claims with payers and manage the on-call rotation of staff. Analyze agency reports to develop operational improvements.
Qualifications
Active RN License in the State of Illinois. JD (Juris Doctor) is bonus as legal expertise would be beneficial for navigating healthcare regulations and compliance. Strong understanding of home health care regulations and compliance requirements. Previous experience in a supervisory or director-level nursing role, preferably in a home health care environment. Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
