As a Java / Cloud Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, Corporate Oversight and Governance Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Engineering Enablement is a function within Corporate Oversight and Governance Technology whose goal is to reduce complexity, improve collaboration, increase development velocity and time to market by providing self-service solutions, engineering standards, and best practices. The team aims to enable developers to focus on business logic and puts an emphasis on developer experience and product quality. Corporate Oversight and Governance Technology is responsible for developing solutions that support the Compliance, Controls Management, Resiliency, Legal, Regulatory, and Audit line of businesses. The solutions support 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line independent review, monitoring and oversight of business operations with a focus on legal and regulatory obligations related to the offerings of the firm's products and services.
Job responsibilities
Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsCreates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systemsProduces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code developmentGathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systemsProactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architectureContributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologiesAdds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respectRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceHands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stabilityDemonstrable ability to code in one or more languagesProficiency in Java and REST APIs, Web Services and experience in building event-driven Micro ServicesProven knowledge of using Continuous Integration(CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) practices using Jenkins or similar technologiesExperience working with the core Spring Frameworks including Spring BootHands-on experience in cloud platforms AWS, Pivotal cloud foundry with containers (Docker Swarm / Kubernetes).Working knowledge of one or more Messaging technologies/ database technologies, relational and NoSQLStrong understanding of test driven development, Shift-Left focus and Software Development Life CycleExperience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languagesExperience with technical concepts and working with technical staff as neededPreferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Familiarity with modern front-end technologiesWorking knowledge of additional cloud platforms - GCP and/or AzureProficient knowledge and expertise in data security, risk assessment & reporting, control evaluation, design, and governance, with a proven record of implementing effective risk mitigation strategiesProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA, SQL/queries
