TITLE: Video Systems Technician ISA I-C

LOCATION: USPIS - Sacramento, CA

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Moderate Background Investigation (MBI)

SALARY: $70,000/annual

SCHEDULE: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and operation, position may require occasional support outside of core working hours, as well as intermittent weekend support, mission dependent.

About the Role

Provides task-specific, technical support to designated criminal investigations in the Inspection Service field division offices. The Investigative Support Technician will participate in the development of covert surveillance strategies and deploy video surveillance equipment to capture information in furtherance of investigations.

What you will do:

Planning

Perform video surveillance site assessments and provide action plans detailing types of equipment, maintenance requirements, operational procedures and concerns within a given time frame.

Technical Advisor

Participate in case planning meetings and provide expert opinion on the potential for video surveillance usage, the cost/benefit of particular technical solutions, and the level of effort to maintain the surveillance operation.

Video Capture

Download images from installed camera systems in support of criminal investigations.

Installation & Maintenance of systems

Design, assemble, modify, test, install, and maintain video surveillance systems at USPS facilities and other locations of interest to an investigation. Ensures equipment is maintained in accordance with USPIS and manufacturers guidelines.

Reporting Responsibilities

Prepare reports that document the results of image capture.

Expected performance outcomes and timelines

Complete assigned task/project under specific jacketed investigation as provided.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:Ability to communicate orally and in writing at a level of proficiency sufficient to effectively convey technical equipment guidance and instruction to Inspection Service personnel, to relate surveillance strategies, investigative protocols, and actions to various audiences, and to maintain effective liaison with other law enforcement personnel;Demonstrated experience installing, operating, and maintaining technical surveillance equipment, including, but not limited to, video camera and microwave transmission systems;Knowledge of surveillance and investigative techniques commonly utilized in criminal investigations and an awareness of the privacy and legal issues associated with the use of video surveillance systems;Knowledge of the handling/processing procedures associated with video evidence;Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, use, installation, and operation of various types of video surveillance equipment;Ability to utilize computers and the internet to conduct web site searches and to operate surveillance equipment;Ability to plan and carry out tasks and projects to completion within reasonable specified time frames without immediate supervision.Clearance:

Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.Favorable credit check for all cleared positionsSuccessfully passing a background investigation including drug screening.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees. Standing for prolonged and extended periods of time.Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time.Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time.Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time.
