Description This position is responsible for providing technical EC&I support to all electrical equipment related to the 24/7 chemical manufacturing facility in Zeeland, Michigan. The primary responsibility of the EC&I Technician will be to modify, repair or overhaul electronics and electrical equipment and controls. A successful candidate when required will also trouble shoot and contact vendors to help solve problems. The Zeeland site utilizes the following - Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, and Fuji. The candidate will apply their knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applied skills in restoring equipment to an operational state.
Job Details Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsibility (50% time) calibration and troubleshooting
  • Maintenance Manager will assign daily, weekly, and monthly tasks based on priorities
  • Repairs electro-mechanical devices that measure flow, pressure, temperature, level, analytical (i.e. pH, conductivity) and control valves
  • Conducts instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems
  • EC&I Technician is responsible for providing preventive, scheduled, and on-call
  • EC&I maintenance support to the facility
  • Commissions instrumentation
  • Works closely with engineering to evaluate both routine and emergency instrument work
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosis of minor problems and the implementation of corrective action
  • Maintains accurate and detailed maintenance records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent. Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Performs all required observations and training timely and as scheduled
  • Also included in the EC&I role, required when needed to run conduit, pull wire, change motors and maintain lighting systems and basic motor controls. (10-20% of time)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A minimum of a high School diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Two-year degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Five (5) years process instrumentation/electrical maintenance experience in industry OR
  • Two (2) years maintenance experience in industry and Associates Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings
  • Proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters
  • Strong understanding of safety practices, specifically LOTO, hot work, and confined space entry
  • Willingness to learn how the instrumentation works within the chemical process
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs as well as wear a fall protection harness to reach some instrumentation
  • Working at heights on top of tanks and driving vertical lifts (20-45')
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment within a multi-functional, organizationalstructure
  • Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive, physical work such as lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to be on call as needed and specified is required
  • Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant
