This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS Online expects all staff to be onsite a minimum of 2 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.

Reporting to the Director of Architecture and Data Platforms, the Senior Tech Manager, Data Platform manages the development activities of a multi-disciplinary team of report developers, data scientists, and infrastructure engineers to deliver a comprehensive enterprise data warehouse combining a full range of historical and transactional data from HBS Online platforms and tools, data from external tools and system, an ever-growing set of self-service reports and analytic tools for business users, and a set of machine learning and AI models for both business and learning objectives.

As a senior member of the HBS Technology team, you will work closely with project managers, content subject matter experts, business teams, and senior management to create and maintain state-of-the-art data infrastructure, analytics, reporting, and models. You will help to clarify scope and specifications and participate in the program and flight planning processes to organize and plan work by the data team and work with partner teams to facilitate cross-platform data projects.

Responsibilities :

Responsible for effective staff management, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment for a multi-disciplinary technical teamLead a team of subject matter experts in proactively understanding business and platform needs and managing an incoming pipeline of data, reporting, analytics, and modeling projects and tasks.Direct work priorities of a team of offshore, contracted resources.Serve as technical product owner within an Agile process, contributing to requirements gathering, estimation, and flight planning and act as scrum masterParticipate in long term strategic planning for the data platform portfolio(s)Budget management and creation and maintenance of contracts and relationships with data tool vendorsContribute to creation, maturing, and migration of data management, reporting, and infrastructure best practices and new technologiesDraw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to internal and external clientsAbide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of ConductThe role is also responsible for other duties as assignedNote this role may require some weekend and evening work.
