Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13+ facilities with 22+ micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dentist to join our team, providing essential dental care services to individuals facing housing instability and other challenges. This role is critical in addressing the dental health needs of our clients, contributing to their overall health, self-esteem,and quality of life.The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $125.00, depending on experience.The hours for this role will be Wednesdays from 8:30am to 5:00pm.ResponsibilitiesComprehensive Patient Care: Perform a range of dental care services, including but not limited to diagnostic exams, preventive cleanings, restorative treatments (such as fillings and crowns), and extractions. Ensure all procedures are conducted safely an align with best practices. Patient Education and Advocacy: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, preventive care, and dietary recommendations to support long-term dental health. Tailor advice to accommodate each patient's unique circumstances and barriers to healthcare. Collaborative Treatment Planning: Work closely with healthcare providers, case managers, and social service teams to develop integrated care plans that address both oral health and overall well-being, coordinating follow-up care as needed. Creating a Respectful and Safe Environment: Foster a welcoming and nonjudgmental atmosphere, treating all patients with dignity and respect. Be sensitive to the social and emotional challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and adapt communication to make patients feel comfortable and understood. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed, confidential patient records and ensure documentation meets legal and regulatory standards. Be diligent in recording patient progress, treatment plans, and follow-up care needs. Equipment and Supply Management: Manage and maintain dental equipment, ensuring it is sanitized, properly stored, and functional. Monitor inventory levels of dental supplies, requesting replenishment as needed to ensure continuity of care. Quality Improvement and Training: Engage in continuous learning opportunities, staying updated on the latest dental techniques and trends in community health. Provide informal training to support staff on basic dental hygiene practices and effective patient communication skills. Data Collection and Reporting: Assist with collecting and analyzing patient data to track the effectiveness of dental health initiatives. Submit reports on patient volumes, common treatment needs, and any observed health trends to help guide organizational program improvements. Supportive Counseling: Listen to patient concerns with empathy, especially for those who may be experiencing dental pain or fear of dental treatment. Provide reassurance and explain procedures in a way that reduces anxiety and promotes trust in the care process.
