Technical Project Lead, Senior - Connected Infotainment Product Development

Role Summary:

The Project Lead Srposition is focused on product development activities for Connected Infotainment products in the North American region for VWGoA. The incumbent will manage multiple projects and resources with our client company in Germany and the internal staff, and tracks results. The incumbent will work as the key interface between the Brands European development centers, US affiliates and Tier 1 partners and suppliers.In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the project portfolio, ensuring intellectual properties, and forming strategic partnerships with internal and external entities.

Role Responsibilities:

Project Lead Responsibility

•Serves as Project Lead for all VWGoA North America Region (NAR) product development activities such as:Validation Management.Project Coordination and Communication.Project Resource Planning.Project Budget and Engineering.•Project/progress reports and Presentations to management (both internal and external Project Affiliates).

•Manages NAR connected infotainment product development activities.

•Develops and contributes to the North American specific requirement process.

•Acts as liaison between affiliate VWGoA Departments and European Development Departments.

Mentorship and Training

•Mentors project engineers and manages job training for project team members.

•Creates, reviews, and manages NAR functional requirements.

•Leads technical workshops with NAR development partners.

Years of Relevant Experience:

•Eight years or more in software development or 5-7 years with a post-graduate degree.

•Two years or more as a technical project leader or development of Connected Infotainment/Navigation systems for an Automotive/Aerospace/Transportation OEM or Tier-1 suppliers - proven record of start-to-finish lead role.

Education:

Required

•Bachelor degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive).

Desired

•Engineering background with Masters in Business Administration / Engineering Administration.

Required

•Product Development

Experience with End2End Connected Infotainment projects including validation of Backend environments.Experience gathering and organizing requirements and writing functional specifications.Can deep dive into technical issues whilst keeping the product vision in mind.Ability to plan/review roadmaps, technical designs, test strategies, test cases etc.Able to understand and engage in market- oriented product development.•Project Management

Proven record of project leadership within the automotive industry - Start to Finish.Experience running one or more projects simultaneously.Excellent English language skills.Exceptional communication with internal / external partners, stakeholders, and project affiliates and management.Manage timelines, budgets, resource planning, risk etc.Able to work in a dynamic, timeline bound and target oriented work environment.•Leadership

Capable of leading by influence, not authority.Effective public speaker - comfortable presenting complex technical information in front of technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.Effective at communicating with teams across cultures and in different times zones.

•Able to continuously question and challenge the status-quo, always applying the lessons learned.

Desired

•Prior experience working with an OEM.

•Experience in integration and testing of Vehicle, IT Architecture Backend, and Frontend Systems.

•Analytical skills. Proven record of active engagement in process improvements.

•German language skills are highly desired.

•Devotion for high quality, ability to find and expose quality insufficiencies in automotive electronics systems.

•Knowledge of automotive infotainment.

•Passion for cars and car electronics.

•Computer savvy with previous programming experience.

•Automotive Communication protocols knowledge: CAN, MOST, Ethernet, FlexRay.

•Prior experience in working with tier-1 suppliers.

Work Flexibility:

•Travel is estimated to be 10-15%.

•Travel as needed within U.S. and overseas to support test drives and project specific training.

•Flexible working schedule, temporarily.

In Belmont, California, the base salary range for this role is $155,000 -$185,000, depending on education and experience.
