Required:*Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology and holding a current Speech Pathologist license in the State of California.*1 Year of experiencePreferred:*Pediatric Experience*Bilingual in Spanish is preferredOn- call 1x a MonthPosition Details:The Speech Language Pathologist position at NIHD is about 98 outpatient and 2 inpatient/acute.Outpatient: Approximately 60-70 pediatrics all diagnoses and ages and 30-40 adults mostly post stroke or other neuro diagnoses. Usually 1 outpatient MBSS per week.Inpatient: We have very few patients in our inpatient setting who require SLP but the most common diagnoses are acute stroke or other neuro conditions all adults. Rarely to never do we have pediatric patients for SLP in acute care.
JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for the evaluation of patients referred for Speech therapy formulation of a plan of care and administration of Speech therapy treatments. The staff Speech therapist shall interact with all hospital departments and medical staff. Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in all areas involving patients and their related hospital business. Conduct hospital business in an ethical and lawful manner and is willing to report any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse according to the NIH Compliance Code of Conduct. Abide by the NIH Personnel Payroll Policies and Procedures. Abide by Departmental Policies and Procedures and standards of performance and conduct.JOB RELATIONSHIPS:*Directly responsible to the Rehabilitation Director.*Works closely with hospital district leadership and departments as well as internal and external customers.Required:*Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology and holding a current Speech Pathologist license in the State of California.*1 Year of experiencePreferred:*Pediatric Experience*Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. BLS within 2 month of hire and on-going Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct/comfort patients/families to maintain effective communication/contact with healthcare team members Analytical skills necessary in order to prioritize workload develop solutions to problems concerning patient’s body mind and spirit Basic computer knowledge including: Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Word and Intranet Ability to learn Computer software programs including but not limited to: Cerner Millennium Policy Manager OneSource HPF One Content etc. Must be able to understand read write and speak English
