Job Summary
The Epic Technical Analyst Senior (EPIC Client Systems Administrator/ EPIC Client Systems Manager) is an expert in developing, testing, maintaining, administering, and monitoring all Epic Cache / IRIS databases or Epic related Windows servers and associated programming. Works with technical staff, analysts, and Epic staff to build, configure, deploy, implement, operate, and maintain the environments in a highly complex and fast-growing Epic environment. Ensures the reliability, security, and performance of numerous environments within the system. Responsible for performing installations, upgrades, patching and environment configurations for Epic systems, while maintaining proper documentation throughout the process. Performs general Server system administration on any CommonSpirit system related to Epic. Works with all CommonSpirit teams as a resource during downtimes, failovers, updates, and upgrades. Services to include: hardware/software installation, operations, maintenance, patching, upgrades, monitoring and business continuity operations.
Reviews and analyzes systems including testing and documenting Epic applications. Understands system options and configurations completely and can suggest and lead teams through decisions on the best way to configure and utilize the system.

Creates and manages all Epic environments that serve the needs of the organization.
Applies knowledge of Epic upgrade processes and tools including Kuiper to perform Cache / IRIS Database and Epic upgrades and updates to all environments.
Installs, configures, and maintains the Epic infrastructure and environments according to the established architecture standards.
Installs and maintains the Epic administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance.
Understands Epic performance metrics, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
Manages Epic logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration.
Performs business continuity maintenance and testing
Implementation of infrastructure upgrades matching defined matrix (firmware, drivers, and management components)
Is aware of best practices for hardware and software configuration and applies them appropriately.
Defines the performance characteristics and thresholds for systems, setting expectations for operations, monitoring and the customer experience where appropriate.
Writes and maintains scripts to improve system management tasks.
Maintains and tests business continuity failover/failback process and documentation.
Ensures all maintenance procedures, configurations and modifications are documented.
Engages in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
Provides support of application systems running on Epic servers.
Monitors, reports, and manages performance of Epic infrastructure, applications, and services.
Troubleshoots all infrastructure issues including service outages, performance degradation, backups, and disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Creation and maintenance of policy and procedures related to the Epic Admin functions.
Collaborates with all CommonSpirit teams and vendors/external support organizations to ensure proactive support.
Contributes to resolution of service outages
Participates in change control process for all planned application and technical activities.
Participates in change review meetings and root cause analysis
Manages incident tickets in conjunction with customers to maintain service levels.
Creates thorough system design and build documentation. Analyze the functionality of the system and how it fits or not with operations; the ability to troubleshoot basic problems and recommend and take appropriate action as required. Translate high-level business requirements to detailed technical designs/documentation.
Collaborates with other analysts, staff, vendors, and leadership. Meet with department heads and executives on a routine basis to identify and prioritize their needs.
Leads application management activities for a single functional area to achieve project objectives.
Manages product lifecycle management, end user enhancement requests of moderate to high complexity, and technical aspects of the modules/applications that are assigned.
Assists in identifying any barriers to adoption of clinical practice.
Performs a variety of tasks to support the organizational initiatives.
Facilitates performance improvement for the effective use of information technology.
Supports business/clinical operations with clinical and financial end users. Supporting continued system maintenance and optimization.
On-call coverage (after business hours and weekends) is required, on a rotational basis or as-needed. Some travel required, both locally and overnight.
Qualifications
Citrix and ECSA certifications preferred.
EPIC Certification Required.
Bachelor’s degree in related field; 4 years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
5 years of relevant experience required.
5 years of Epic Cache / IRIS operational database administration experience preferred for Operational Database Administrator Role or 5 years of Epic Client System administration experience preferred for Epic Clients Systems Role
5 years of Unix operating system administration and Unix tools operations preferred for Operational Database Administrator Role or 5 years of Windows operating system administration and tools for Epic Client Systems Role
Citrix administration knowledge preferred for Epic Client Systems Role
Knowledge of Unix utilities (examples: awk, sed, grep, Perl, etc.) or Wintel utilities
Understanding of operating system concepts such as user and group ownership and file permissions, file system/volume group configuration, virtualization, etc.
Understanding of high availability, database failover models, hardware architectures, storage administration, scripting and print management

$40.75 - $59.09 /hour
