Our work depends on Linux Systems Engineer joining our team to maintain and develop a range of solutions supporting our customer's Office of Cyber Security (OCS) Cyber Systems Division (CSD).

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to operate a 24x7x365 uptime service

Engineer systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs

Maintain best practices for managing systems and services across all environments

Perform fault-finding, analysis, and logging of information for reporting of performance exceptions

Proactively monitor system performance and capacity planning

Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers and workstations

Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks

Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment

Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar relevant degree

Experience: 10+ years of experience with Linux systems

Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, etc.

Security Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Skills and Abilities:

Experienced with Active Directory Integration

Shell, Bash, and/or Python scripting

Linux security hardening; and protocols such as SSH, SFTP, DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP

VMware architecture and configuration, VM spinups and patching

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Skills: Familiarity with Trellix, Splunk, NetApp, and/or NAS

Location: Herndon, VA on customer site

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
