About the Job :Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Commercial Post Closing Specialist III. The successful candidate will review attorney and internally prepared loan packages for booking. Demonstrate ability and experience to comprehend the structure of complex deals and input to the tracking system. Review and fully comprehend complex real estate legal and credit approval documentation. Secure missing documentation and resolve any questionable issues.Responsible for funding as well as booking all types of new and modified loans into the core system (IBS) accurately. Post-Closing performs a variety of duties including, research, general ledger entries, department report reviews, and other duties as assigned.Will work with all types of Commercial Loans, both basic and complex.Major Job Accountabilities:Reviews executed loan documentation to assure accuracy and compliance with established documentation standards, procedures, and policies. Identify dates, collateral, loan structure, reporting requirements, loan covenants, and other controllable items that need to be tracked. Interacts with RM's, PM's and branch personnel to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.Processing New Loans and Modifications:
Accurately fund and book new loans and modifications to the core system. Review applicable loan documents and be able to recognize all information necessary for the proper setup. Must be able to understand the complex rate and repayment structures across a variety of documents. Attention to detail is required to identify exceptions to policy and approval guidelines.Specialty Products-
Demonstrates a strong understanding of syndicated and derivative products (swaps), SBA, and special asset processing. Shows creativity when using the system to support these products. Provides support to sales staff when dealing with client inquires.Accounting Functions-
Responsible for the financial impact of loans on the banks books and records. Demonstrates a strong understanding of accounting principles including assets, liabilities, expense, and income account. Responsible for daily general ledger reconciliation and researching complex GL entries.First Line of defense- This role is responsible for identifying and escalating potential risks by following established processes and controls. It includes financial risk to the bank in incorrect data and client risk-for example, fraud.Participates in the development of department processes.Represent the Bank and the unit courteously and professionally in person and by telephone. Answers questions from lenders and staff regarding documentation of loans. Maintains standards for response times.Assist co-workers as needed during the time of peak volume and staff absences.Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESHigh school diploma required.The position requires 5+ years of work experience with exposure to all types of loans and strong systems background.Knowledge of accounting principles and balancing accounts also necessary. Advanced problem solving skills are needed to find solutions to problems that are complex and required collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from multiple sources.Assist in training of new members/less experienced members of the team.Preferred experience: Direct paralegal support of commercial secured lending transactions. Strong knowledge of commercial loan documentation including real estate recording, UCC recordings and other lien perfection documents required. Strong knowledge of system requirements required.Must be able to multi-task and handle large volumes of work while maintaining accuracy.Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis; good interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.Basic accounting knowledge is needed to accomplish daily balancing and research.SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area.
