The Staff Accountant's primary duties include general ledger account reconciliations, preparing various monthly reports, financials forecasting and assistance with annual budget preparation. Ensuring that financial data is compliant with GAAP. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
This position is based in our Chicago office where there is a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform month-end close duties include reconciling various balance sheet accounts, reviewing general ledger details and posting journal entriesConduct bank reconciliations for parent company and subsidiaries.Maintain the general ledger by verifying transactions and ensuring proper codingReview accounts payable transactions and approve outgoing ACH's and WiresAssist in preparing financial statements and reportsAnalyze and research variances on financials and report findings to managementAssist with annual budget preparation and financial forecastsCalculate sales commissionsPrepare ad hoc reporting for senior management and executivesRecommend process improvements and accounting procedure enhancements.Assist with external annual audit preparation and inquiriesEnsure compliance with internal controlsPerform other accounting, financial, or special projects as assignedKey Relationships:
Collaborate with internal staff from various departments and external partnersRequirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred3+ years of accounting experience requiredRequi red Skills and Capabilities:
Highly skilled in analyzing financial and numeric dataStrong analytic skills and attention to detailIn-depth understanding of GAAP accounting principles and practicesIntermediate Excel skills (e.g. pivot table, vlookup, index, sumif)Proficiency in accounting software systemsProficiency with month-end close process including account reconciliations and financial reportingStrong time management and organizational skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesTeam player with strong work ethic
