The
Lead
Cloud Penetration Tester
will play a pivotal role in our team's success on a large Federal Government SOC contract for the Department of Veteran's Affairs. This role centers on orchestrating and executing strategic purple-teaming exercises that simulate sophisticated cyber-attacks and defense mechanisms. The Lead Cloud Penetration Tester ensures the cloud environments are robustly tested and optimized to withstand real-world threats. This role requires a tactical approach to security testing, blending innovation in attack simulations with rigorous defense strategies to secure the VA's critical cloud resources.

Duties
Lead and coordinate purple-teaming exercises against designated cloud resources, focusing initially on external threats. Collaborate with assessment teams to conduct purple-teaming exercises, utilizing a blend of attack simulations and defense mechanisms to test and improve cloud security. Plan and define the scope and objectives of purple-teaming activities during the initial planning phase. Analyze and interpret purple-teaming results to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement in cloud security measures. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate detected vulnerabilities and enhance overall cloud security posture. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on the outcomes of purple-teaming exercises, including recommendations for enhancing cloud security. Stay updated with the latest cloud security threats and defense strategies to ensure effective and up-to-date testing techniques. Train and mentor junior penetration testers and other team members in advanced purple-teaming methodologies and best practices. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 5 years experience in cybersecurity, with an emphasis and strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, particularly in cloud environments and cloud hosted web applications. Certification in penetration testing with cloud or web app focus (e.g., OSCP, GCPN, GDAT) is a plus. Experience with both red and blue team operations, ideally in a purple-teaming context. Extensive experience in cloud security, including direct experience with large enterprise cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365. Strong technical expertise in cybersecurity technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, SOAR platforms, and network security solutions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment to identify errors, pinpoint root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Benefits
