Act as Interpreter between students, parents, and school staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and SpanishInterpret with no additions or omissionsHandle three-way Hotline interpretations between school staff and parentsCompletion of daily phone activity logsMust be available to work evening, Saturday, and on short notice for meetingsRender clear and exact translations of written materials following guidelinesPursue continued development of skills and knowledgeBe an actively contributing team member and support the District missionPerform all other tasks and duties as assignedAll federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriateQualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred; Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency), plus 60-college hourTwo years of experience as translator/interpreterDemonstrate strong written and oral language skills in Swahili and English, including proofreading with keen attention to detailExperience with the use of Google docs, Word, PDFsIf working remotely from home, have an adequate work environment to process callsStrong organization, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to learn the use of FM transmitters/receivers (interpretation equipment)Must have reliable transportationDemonstrate ability to work independentlyExemplary attendanceExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills to work with a diverse group of individuals
