Data Scientist II - Energy Technology Analytics at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Overview The Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division (EIBD) of PNNL is accelerating the transition to a decarbonized, efficient, resilient, and secure energy system through basic and applied research. We leverage a strong technical foundation in power and energy systems and in advanced data analytics to drive innovation, transform markets, and shape energy policy. The Energy Technology Deployment Group within EIBD is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of analysts, advisors, scientists, and engineers dedicated to understanding all aspects of building energy systems including efficient technologies, alternative energy resources, resource extraction, national and local impacts of policy, and the interface between human and natural systems. A major research focus of our Group is to develop approaches that focus on deployment of technologies and practices into the market that advance energy efficiency, decarbonize buildings, increase resiliency, and support a decarbonized economy. Responsibilities The Energy Technology Deployment Group seeks a Data Scientist to conduct and publish research covering several important building energy science & technology performance questions including building energy impacts, future energy-efficient technology adoption, market impacts of potential future electric grid enabling technologies, and other energy efficiency & renewable energy analyses. The successful candidate will work in a cross-disciplinary environment using a range of modeling tools and approaches and spanning several technical domains. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in close collaboration with other PNNL analysts, engineers and scientists together with outside collaborators, publish scholarly papers in open literature, and participate in national and international research efforts. The data scientists will play a central role in several cutting-edge interdisciplinary research projects at PNNL. Other Responsibilities and Accountabilites: + Demonstrates ability to transfer skills across application domains. + Accountable to the Building Systems Technical Group Leader for growingdeveloping technical expertise and communicating development and infrastructure needs. + To Project Managers for performing assigned project roles on time, within budget, with attention to detail & quality.
