What you'll do...

The On Board Generator Inverter (OBGI) D & R Engineer will have the responsibility to:

D&R the OBGI (a.k.a. Pro Power On Board Inverter), to ensure the component meets function, quality, cost, weight, and timing requirements.

Work closely with Supplier, Purchasing, Applications team, Software engineers, Vehicle Program, etc. to meet objectives.

Guide and manage supplier through GPDS deliverables to meet program timing

Create and maintain Quality documents (i.e. DFMEA, P- diagram, boundary diagram, CPA, SCCAF, etc.), as required.

Collaborate with Applications team regarding packaging ideas and feasibility of attachment features

Collaborate with the supplier and Applications Team on releasing parts in WERS and drawings in TCe from P-release through launch

Work with software engineers to ensure software is delivered on time to support GPDS milestones/builds.

Support Applications meetings for respective program(s)

Support testing (i.e. component, vehicle, breadboard)

Present to EPE management team the component status at key GPDS milestones and 5D/8D status as applicable.

Support the benchmarking of competitive vehicles vs. Ford EV products from a hardware perspective

Review Analytical Warranty System (AWS and QUENCH) data and DTCs to identify areas where actions are required to improve quality

You'll have...

Qualifications for Internal Candidates

BS in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical w/Controls Background)

Design or Development experience with Powertrain/Electrical components.

Experience with root cause analysis

Team player with ability to work well across functions

Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred areas of knowledge and experience:

Even better, you may have...

Experience with electric vehicles either at the system or component level.

Familiarity with data acquisition tools such as Ford DET, Vector CANalyzer, etc.

Strong knowledge of GPDS & program management processes including key deliverables

Proficient with Ford Systems and Engineering Tools (Global Integrator, FEDE, FMA, WERS, VSEM, etc.)

2+ years of Design and Release experience in Powertrain and/or EESE

This position is a salary grade 8.
