Job Summary
The Division Director, Public Health Institute Infectious Disease focuses on HIV, STI, and viral hepatitis prevention and control as well as family planning services.
Activities include direct patient care, outreach testing, linkage to care, research, teaching, capacity building and technical assistance. The Division Director serves as the Director for the Denver Prevention Training Center and supervises the HIV/STI Outreach team and the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance program. This role will supervise and work collaboratively with the Medical Director of the Denver Sexual Health Clinic who guides STI clinical services and research. This position provides clinical expertise in HIV and STI and delivers training to medical providers. The Director provides patient care in the ID/HIV clinic at the Public Health Institute at DH and the inpatient infectious disease consult service at Denver Health. Physicians have faculty appointments at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.

Essential Functions:
Clinical Practice - Maintains an active clinical practice in PHIDH clinics, including the Denver Sexual Health Clinic. Leads by example in achieving own clinical practice productivity, quality goals and patient satisfaction. (30%) Operations - Works with designated Division managers in oversight of operations of Division programs. Monitors and aligns performance across programs to PHIDH's strategic initiatives. Oversees PHIDH sexual health services, outreach services, collaborates and leads research, and serves as medical director for the Denver Prevention Training Center. Provides supervision to direct reports. (35%) Scholarly Activity -including research and education including published literature in peer-reviewed journals. Works with Director of Clinic, Clinical faculty, and program staff to support relevant academic work at clinical site. Provides education, training and technical assistance to clinical providers regionally. Eligible for appointment or promotion to Assistant professor or higher in their department. (25%) Alignment - evaluates utilization, national and local trends and identifies interventions to optimize the utilization of resources, control cost and delivery of quality health care services across programs. Builds and maintains relationships with key collaborators and partners, locally, regionally and nationally. (5%) Division Administration - oversees Division strategic planning, reports, and initiatives. (5%)
Education: Doctorate Degree from an accredited medical school Required
Work Experience: 1-3 years Outpatient clinic experience with demonstrated leadership qualities and evidence of leading initiatives at the clinic or division level, or oversight of advanced practice providers. Experience as an educator working with healthcare providers. Experience evaluating healthcare or educational programs. Eligible for appointment or promotion to Assistant professor or higher in their department. Required 4-6 years Clinical Practice Experience Required 1-3 years Managerial Experience Required
Licenses: BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and A ilities: Knowledge and interest in multi-disciplinary ambulatory care, ability to work in teams and motivate physicians and other providers to improve quality, patient experience and operational efficiency. Communicate effectively with a wide variety staff and as well as administration. Possess critical thinking, analytical and teaching/coaching skills. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff while providing quality medical care, able to analyze, interpret and act upon relevant clinical and financial data that pertain to the practice. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
