This position serves as Controller for UC Davis Health, comprising the Medical Center hospital and clinics, Primary Care Network, Practice Management Group, School of Medicine and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. These activities comprise approximately 50% of the revenues and expenses for UC Davis. Specifically, the position has management responsibility for the following departments: Accounts Payable, Capital Finance, General Accounting, Government Reimbursement and Payroll. MGR234

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting on a monthly and annual basis using full accrual accounting methodology, including responsibility for new accounting standards, maintaining robust internal controls, managing financial risk, ensuring compliance with regulatory initiatives, and managing cash.Apply By DateNovember 17, 2024 at 11:59p; Selection activities can begin at any timeDepartment OverviewThis position serves as Controller for UC Davis Health, comprising the Medical Center hospital and clinics, Community Physician Group, Practice Management Group, School of Medicine and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. These activities comprise approximately 50% of the revenues and expenses for UC Davis. Specifically, the position has management responsibility for the following departments: Accounts Payable, Finance Business Systems, Capital Finance, General Accounting, and Payroll.Minimum QualificationsCertified Public AccountantBachelors in Accounting or a related field and/or a combination of experience, education and/or training.Fifteen or more years of progressive financial experience in an organization comparable to UCDH in terms of budget, size, complexity, and scope of operation is required to understand and answer the complex financial accounting and reporting associated with UCDH and third-party audits.Seven or more years of managerial experience.Financial healthcare experience and reimbursement principles mandatory Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and all applicable statements of the GAAS.Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems. University of California-specific strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience developing written and oral decision-focused presentations and leading groups to consensus within a designated timeframe.Information management reporting experience using relational databases and data query tools to evaluate information from multiple sources. Experience with databases.Demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze data using query tools such as SQL.Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to independently research, develop, and recommend solutions to complex problems along with the ability to present complex data, visually, orally and in writing, to facilitate decision-making.Analytical skills to gather and evaluate data from a variety of sources, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.Advanced knowledge of the organization's operational, personnel, and financial transactions and systems.Advanced project management skills, including planning, establishment of objectives, procedures and standards in order to develop and maintain records and paperwork in clear, logical manner.Advanced supervisory skills to hire, train, motivate, coach, develop, evaluate, recognize, reward and discipline all levels of staff.Advanced service orientation skills; excellent skills in management and leadership; advanced ability to use critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills to creatively solve problemsAdvanced knowledge of industry best practicesAdvanced verbal and written communication skillsLeadership skills to actively participate in building the vision, mission and goals of the organization.Ability to react with flexibility and patience, maintaining efficiency and accuracy, under sustained and immediate pressures created by workload, frequent interruptions and multiple requests.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers around the organization, exhibiting assertiveness, a realistic perspective, objectivity, courtesy, tact, diplomacy and awareness of how own actions affect others.Position InformationSalary
