Solid Waste Engineer

The Solid Waste Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing solid waste management systems and infrastructure projects. This role will involve evaluating waste collection processes, improving recycling programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, with expertise in waste management practices.Key Responsibilities :

Design & Planning : Develop and design solid waste management systems, including waste collection, recycling, transfer stations, and landfills, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Project Management : Lead and manage solid waste projects from planning through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring timely completion of projects.Waste Reduction & Recycling : Develop and implement strategies to improve waste diversion, recycling rates, and waste minimization programs for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.Regulatory Compliance : Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to solid waste handling, disposal, and recycling.Data Analysis & Reporting : Collect, analyze, and report data related to waste generation, collection efficiencies, and sustainability initiatives.Collaboration : Work closely with local governments, contractors, and environmental agencies to ensure that solid waste systems are efficient and effective.Public Outreach : Participate in community outreach efforts to educate the public on waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.Troubleshooting : Provide technical support for operational issues in solid waste facilities and work on continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Experience :

Minimum of 5 years of experience in solid waste management, environmental engineering, or related field.Strong knowledge of solid waste engineering practices, waste diversion technologies, recycling programs, and waste-to-energy systems.

Licenses/Certifications :

Professional Engineer (PE) license.Certification in waste management or environmental management (e.g., LEED, SWANA) a plus.

Skills :

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Proficiency with engineering design software (AutoCAD, GIS, etc.).Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, state waste regulations).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
