This position is for a Solutions Architecture role with a focus on High Performance Computing Infrastructure Engineer, reporting directly to the Leader of the Systems Group in IT Operations.Provides systems programming and management functions for large-scale, high-performance computing systems at United Launch Alliance for both on-premises and cloud environments.Responsibilities include working as a member of the systems team on the administration, integration and maintenance of parallel high performance computing systems, clusters, as well as other systems and peripherals, including advanced filesystems, enterprise storage systems, visualization environments, and networks.Works with Engineering high-performance computing stakeholders and users to accomplish complex system integration, deployment, system performance analyses, problem resolution, and system security initiatives.Works with senior staff on the development of system management strategies, architectural assessments, system tools, and software for the administration of production systems.ULA Business Goals:100% Mission-Success / High-Reliability OrganizationIncrease Organizational Scale & Launch RateBe the premier launch provider for United States GovernmentDrive down organizational costsArchitecture of Next Generation HPC environment with hybrid solution.Mentoring Engineering Teams on new features and capabilities to support Next Gen HPC.Data Management of storage pool to support DR, performance, and secure.Mentoring of HPC architecture to mid-level SME’s to support administrative capabilities to the environment.Provides systems support for advanced analysis computing environment, to include the installation, integration and management of high-performance computer systems, clusters, operating systems, peripherals, and system interfaces; monitors system usage; ensures that the high-performance computing complex is operating at optimal performance and reliability levels; additional duties include consulting, training and the development and maintenance of systems documentation.Works in collaboration with Engineering staff to manage the hardware and systems software infrastructure to provide an effective, reliable, high performance, scalable computing environment.Participates in the configuration and tuning of batch queuing systems in a massively parallel production environment; collects parallel system utilization statistics; identifies and resolves computer system anomalies and operational problems; and provides systems support for electronic mail, name resolution, and file sharing services.Maintains an understanding of state-of-the-art computing systems and peripherals; computer operating systems; and scalable, parallel architectures.Works with users and other computational professionals in evaluating user requirements, and in the configuration and deployment of computational resources.Works with computer hardware, software, and service vendors to maintain an understanding of industry trends and evolving technology to develop and maintain a five-year roadmap.Serves as project leader on small to medium-sized projects.Execute other duties as assigned by the Leader of IT Systems Infrastructure.Required EducationBachelorRequired Years of ExperienceMinimum of 8 years of related work experienceBasic QualificationsA Bachelors degree in a related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.Working knowledge of high-performance computing systems; scalable, parallel architectures; and Linux operating system.Knowledge of advanced data storage technologies and high-speed network interfaces.Ability to contribute to the development of technical design decisions involving software or hardware implementation strategies.Ability to monitor system usage and performance statistics and to understand the impacts of operating system tuning parameters.Good working knowledge of one or more automated scripting languages such as but not limited to csh, Bash, Awk, perl, Python, Ansible, etc.Skilled experience in the installation and configuration of operating systems and applications software.Experience with complex problem resolution procedures, testing and evaluation methods, and programming tools.Ability to analyze requirements and determine computational resource impacts.Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Experience with Cloud solutions and delivery models (Azure and AWS preferred).Preferred QualificationsExperience with network security procedures and protocols.Experience with queuing software such as PBS Pro and Slurm.Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only):
$159,557.00 - $249,385.00Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations.
