To complement our team, we are seeking to employ an ambitious and experienced permanent Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will review, manage and attend to various legal aspects of the business, primarily focusing on construction contracts together with related disputes and contentious matters.
Key duties of this post will include, but will not be limited to:
Manage and attend to various legal aspects of the business, primarily focusing on construction contracts together with related disputes and contentious matters.
Liaise with external legal advisers/insurance brokers
Participate in client/supplier meetings as required including travel to client sites
Maintain matters in an orderly manner and raise awareness within the company of legal and related commercial risks associated with contracts or negotiations in which they are involved
Provide training on relevant and topical legal matters to assist business departments within the company
Communicate widely with all staff (e.g. team briefings regarding company specific information etc)
Person Specification:
Essential:
Qualified as a Solicitor or Barrister in N Ireland (or similar jurisdiction)
Previous experience within a commercial legal role (to include involvement with large, complex transactions and/or contracts)
Excellent written and oral communication skills with all levels of staff
Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.
Desirable:
At least six years’ post qualification experience
Previous experience within the construction industry
Previous experience working within an in-house legal team
Transactional construction projects experience
Construction and/or commercial disputes experience
