As a Commercial Banker, you will be responsible for growing and retaining profitable relationships within the Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) specializing in Innovation Economy, Startup Banking, Life Sciences and Healthcare.
The Startup Banking Life Sciences and Healthcare team is part of J.P. Morgan's Commercial Bank in its Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries group. In this role as a commercial banker, you will be the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of accounts and will work both independently, and as part of a team, to deliver our comprehensive solutions to clients. Bankers are required to have deep working knowledge of our solutions, including, but not limited to Credit, Treasury Services, International Banking, Commercial Card and Chase Merchant Solutions. The commercial banker will interact and liaise with other areas of the organization including credit underwriters, AML/KYC officers, client service associates (CSAs), and treasury management officers. We work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to deliver the entire firm to our clients.

Develop new business in your market by acquiring new relationships and deepening existing relationships by delivering the entire Firm, and leading internal strategic discussions across all our solutions including credit and payments.
Relentlessly focus on seeking out the best and most diverse founders powering innovation by leveraging a referral network built through business activities and relationship development.
Champion a culture of innovation and a customer-centric mindset balanced with the ability to manage risk (credit, KYC, operational, and reputational) appropriately.
Be passionate about innovation, the early stage (pre-series A) startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship, leading to a desire to stay up to date with industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation or strategic partnerships.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
5+ years of related banking experience.
Strong understanding of Commercial Banking products and services.
Ability to work with credit, client acquisition, KYC and client services.
Excellent sales management and business development skills.
Proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships.
Proficiency in developing strong internal banking collaborations.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnership with senior business and control partners.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Self-directed, proactive, and creative; uses sound judgment and navigates ambiguity to get things done.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
Bachelor’s degree and formal credit training preferred.
Strong committed team player, looking to add to a national team of likeminded, passionate Innovation Economy bankers.
