Job Summary/Description:

KCTV5, the Gray Media-owned, CBS affiliate in Kansas City, is seeking the next leader of our sports department in the home of the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs! We're looking for a leader and a teammate. Someone who leads by example doesn't hesitate to make decisions, and who can work closely with the rest of the newsroom to create engaging newscasts and unmatched digital and streaming content.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Selecting and creating stories that matter to viewers- Delivering scripted material and ad-libbing with professionalism, personality, and purpose- Shooting video, writing scripts, building graphics, and editing video that helps you tell complete and effective stories- Planning, gathering, assembling stories, and producing sports hits as needed- Coordinating with news managers, assignment desk, digital team, and producers to develop enterprising and exclusive content- Creating content and posting to digital platforms as news develops- Responding urgently and appropriately to breaking and developing sports news on-air, online, and streaming- Working under strict deadline pressure- Demonstrating exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines- Appearing on behalf of the station at public events

Qualifications/Requirements:

- High-quality shooting, writing, producing, and video editing skills- Exceptional communication skills- Sound ethics and judgment- Consistent track record of meeting deadlines and producing high-level content- Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends- Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field- Self-starter skills- Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as content management systems, social media, and streaming- Past anchoring and reporting experience required (5 years preferred)- Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, LiveU, and Arc is preferred- Pre-employment MVR check will be run
