The plant Occupational Health Nurse will participate in the promotion and restoration of employee health, prevention of illness and injury, case management for disability and workers compensation claims, and promote protection from occupational and environmental hazards. This is an onsite position at our Farmerville, Louisiana location.To administer first aid treatment to injured or ill Team Members. To monitor, treat and provide follow-up on work-incurred injuries and to assess and evaluate potential work-incurred injuries.Evaluate and treat work-related injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner, within the scope of practice, and consistent with doctors standing orders.Case management for workers compensation claims including meticulous documentation. Acting liaison for claimant, physicians, employer, claims examiners, and other health care team members for coordination of care and effective communication.Collaborate and assist the Safety Team to maintain compliance with required OSHA programs such as Hearing Conservation Program, Hazmat program, Blood Borne Pathogens Training, and CPR/AED/First Aid training.Assist with team member education related to prevention of injuries and illnesses, as well as communicable diseases.Stewardship for medical inventory and cost containment.Follow all Foster Farms Occupational Health Services department policies and procedures.Maintain awareness of applicable federal, state, and local health, industrial hygiene and safety regulations.Follow policies and procedures that ensure the confidentiality and security of health records regulating access, release, transmittal, and storage of all health information in accordance with State, Federal, and Corporate Standards.Ability to be flexible with work schedule and work overtime as needed.Other duties as assigned by management.Qualifications
Education:Current, unrestricted Louisiana LVN license or compact state license. CPR/AED certified.
Experience:1+ years clinical nursing experience.
Computer Skills:Basic computer skills. Ability to work with an electronic medical documentation system and MS Office.
Other Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:Must be able to transport standard clinic emergency bag for long distances, climb stairs, get on the ground quickly to perform emergency assessment and response, and/or high-quality CPR per BLS certification.
