THE OPPORTUNITY Harvard Bioscience is currently seeking a SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager who will be responsible for oversight of financial reporting and technical accounting. The SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager will ensure the accuracy of the Company's periodic SEC filings, including quarterly and annual reports (10-Q and 10-K), as well as other external financial reporting requirements. The occupant of this role will also ensure compliance with US GAAP and liaise with key stakeholders in the company to provide technical accounting support including research and preparation of memos. The role reports to the Corporate Controller. Essential Job Functions Financial/SEC Reporting Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and Management Discussion and Analysis for inclusion in 10-K and 10-Qs. Work cross-functionally and be primary finance contact for legal, HR and Investor Relations teams for SEC and Investor disclosures such as 8-Ks, investor presentations, Annual Meeting, and Proxy disclosures Maintain supporting documentation and work papers for financial reporting deliverables, including completion of US GAAP and reporting checklists and executing certain accounting close procedures, such as review of stock-based compensation and lease accounting. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial reporting processes, enhance efficiency, and maintain the highest standards of quality. Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables. Technical Accounting Prepare accounting memos and technical analyses, for example: assessing revenue recognition accounting under ASC 606, evaluating annual and quarterly intangible and goodwill impairment Maintain and update existing policies for changes in guidance or business practices and draft new accounting policies to address new guidance or business activities. Monitor and assess the effects of proposed ASUs. Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards. Provide technical accounting guidance and support to cross-functional teams on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and equity-based compensation. Internal Controls Maintain a robust internal control environment for accounting transactions and financial reporting, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Work with external consultants on risk assessment and control design to ensure all risks of material misstatement are covered Assist control owners in resolving SOX issues and ensuring that deficiencies are remediated.
