Summary

The Community Relations Specialist is a passionate relationship builder and strategic thinker who will lead DWC's group volunteer engagements, bringing resources and awareness to DWC's mission. Part of the Development team and reporting directly to the Events and Community Relations Manager, this position is an essential part of the team that secures resources to support the Center's ongoing operations. Essential Functions

Host group volunteer events at DWC's Downtown LA headquarters and lead agency tours. Educate supporters on women's homelessness and DWC's approach.Manage communications and coordination with volunteer groups from corporate and community partners, identifying volunteer opportunities aligned with their interests and coordinating all logistics.Provide logistical support and coordination for community events at DWC, such as corporate days of service, media events, events with community partners, and group volunteer activities.Collaborate with the Individual and Institutional Giving teams to identify donor and funder prospects and steward relationships resulting from engagement activities.Work with DWC staff across departments to identify one-time projects and other unique opportunities appropriate for group volunteers.Speak at community events to engage the community in DWC's work and attract new donors and volunteers. Be well-versed on our brand and communications strategies, effectively representing the agency and issues surrounding women's homelessness in the community.Collaborate with the Development and Communications teams to identify engagement opportunities and publicize relevant partnerships, including featuring DWC's community partners in our newsletter and social media.Provide regular reports to DWC's Board of Directors and leadership on DWC's community engagement. Ensure metrics related to our community partners are accurately tracked. Maintain up to date information about community partners in DWC's donor database.Provide additional assistance as needed with activities that further Development activities and priorities.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position would also require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building meaningful relationships.Excellent verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking.1-3 years of professional experience in fundraising, volunteer management, event coordination, corporate social responsibility, or philanthropy.Demonstrated record as a successful team player, including the ability to develop and maintain a goal-oriented, positive attitude throughout the organization.Comfort coordinating, including via email, phone, video call, and in-person, diverse internal and external stakeholders with a goal-oriented, collaborative approach.Experience supervising or coordinating volunteers, or event planning.Strong problem-solving and project management skills. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving the final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.

Pay Range

$26.44 - $31.25 /hour
