General Summary of PositionThe Materials Clerk performs a variety of tasks including issuing and delivering supplies, maintaining physical and virtual inventories, maintaining PAR levels on exchange and stationary carts, assisting with receiving and storing supplies, maintaining order and cleanliness in the storeroom, including breaking down of boxes and discarding. Pulls Requisitions from the Materials Management Information system to fill inventory/stock orders from customers in the hospital and all off site locations, picks orders from the Storeroom and delivers supplies in accordance with departmental and hospital policy.Does charge entry for only those items deemed "special items" which have no product identification or CPT codes for billing. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Consistently provides courteous customer service by pulling system requisitions, taking phone and walk in requests and filling customer orders.Receives and delivers oxygen and specialty gas orders.Assists in the receiving and stocking of inventory items.Annually participates in the physical count of inventory.Assists in determining and revising the correct quantities of product for the par level units.Maintains accuracy in recordation and transfers of out of inventory supplies.Accuracy, expediency, and agility in providing stock to par levels stationery and exchange carts as assigned.Responsible for the rotation of stock in the storeroom and on the par levels; removes expired product.Possesses knowledge of Materials Management Information system.Maintain Accurate and timely charges CPT and ICD9 data entry.Works in conjunction with MedStar Health Revenue Cycle team, and Corporates rates and billing to maximize correct billing accuracy and compliance.Maintains daily bill only charges for accuracy and markups noted by Corporate rates and reimbursement.Maintain financial, billing, and professional ethical standards in conjunction with all MedStar policies and procedures.Minimum Qualifications EducationHigh School Diploma or GEDrequiredor equivalent requiredandAssociate's degreepreferred Experience3-4 years Supply chain experience preferredand ICD9 and CPT coding preferredand Material handling experience, preferably in healthcare. preferredand Expertise in automated materials systems. preferredand Experience with inventory and receiving duties. preferredand Familiar with medical/surgical supplies preferredand Experience and discipline in keeping inventory counts accurately preferredand This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $28.73
