Description
Amazon is seeking an income Sr. Tax Analyst to join its State and Local Direct Tax reporting team. The Amazon tax department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. This position will be responsible for the preparation of state income tax filings and will assist in state income tax research and analysis. This position will also provide support to various other Amazon tax teams, including Amazon’s tax provision team.
Key job responsibilities
Income Tax Compliance Responsibilities:
Prepare and review state and local income tax returns, state modification calculations, multi-state allocation and apportionment calculations, and calculation and documentation of state credits
Drive process improvement and automation and technology implementation throughout the income tax compliance process
Preparation of state estimated tax payment and accrual calculations
Tax Research & Analysis Responsibilities:
Research and analyze various state and local income tax issues
Development of models to forecast consequences of various tax positions, corporate M&A transactions, pending legislation and new business initiatives
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
CPA
Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries
Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar
Income tax operational experience including preparation of income tax compliance and reporting obligations for US multinational organizations
Tax provision experience and understanding of accounting pronouncements
Experience in supporting audit defense
Project management and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $57,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $123,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
