Charles Taylor is a highly successful global provider of professional services to the insurance industry. We are seeking a dynamic Liability Claims Supervisor to join our team in the Kentucky office. This is a hybrid role.
The candidate is expected to have experience handling general liability claims in KY along with an active KY adjusting license.
Position SummaryThe Liability Claims Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and management of investigation, administration, litigation and settlement of simple-to-complex automobile, property and general liability claims. They must have significant experience performing and overseeing coverage, liability and damage analysis, accident investigations, correspondence professionally and timely and determine the best course of action while working closely with clients, their employees and attorneys as a seasoned claims supervisor.
Essential Functions
Provide oversight and direction regarding the proper investigation of new claims.Assure timely contacts with clients, their employees, claimants, legal counsel, mediators, judges and other members of the claims department to determine appropriate actions to be taken.Read and comprehend complex insurance policies.Properly evaluate liability and damages, address time limit demands appropriately.Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys, and draw up contracts.Report to clients and excess carrier requests regarding claim status and follow through on recommended actions.Oversee litigation management to reach desired outcomes and minimize expenses.Remain in direct compliance with company policies and procedures, including MMSEA reporting.Conduct regular meetings with direct reporting staff to outline procedures and reinforce objectives.Train and mentor direct reporting staff, including audits of claim handling.Maintain active adjuster license in states where this is required.Maintain valid driver's license and automobile insurance.Ability to utilize windows-based claims systems and Microsoft type applications.Meet with clients and account management to conduct claim reviews. This involves account location visits to present cost reports, reserves, active claims and settlement recommendations.Serve assigned clients as an experienced claims supervisor.Qualifications and Educational Requirements
5 or more years of automobile, general liability and real property claims management experience.Extensive working knowledge of state negligence laws (legal background helpful).Experience with medical terminology is essential.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent customer service and telephone skills.College degree is preferred.Meet company background hiring standards.Maintain continuing education and seminars related to changing claim laws.Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment under general management direction to complete assignments.
