2024/25 Hourly rate determined by collective bargaining agreement.This position is approved for the 2024/2025 school year only and is eligible for insurance benefits.Position summaryTo provide direct nursing services to medically fragile students and assist students in education activities as directed by classroom teacher and/or facilitator. Duties are performed in accordance with District/State Board of Education policies and procedures and State law regarding nurse practice.
Essential Duties
Meet child at student's home or at school as directed in student's IEP. Return with student to the home at the end of the school day (and accompany student on school bus and into classroom) if directed by student's IEP.Remain with student during all class activities and during emergency procedures. This includes activities such as field trips.Assist student with educational activities as directed by teacher.Meet the student's daily living needs including toileting, position changes and nutrition.Assess the student's medical needs and provide and document technical nursing interventions. Physical activity may include, but not be limited to lifting, bending, stretching, and pushing.Provide nursing care in building health office as directed by the certified school nurse or Supervisor of Health Services.Maintain confidentiality.Maintain communication with certified school nurse, classroom teacher, facilitator, other school personnel and parent/guardians to enhance cooperative action that will meet the student's health and safety and educational needs at school.Administer medication and treatments as directed by physician order.
ResponsibilityResponsibilities include: working independently and under supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Working EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; transferring students to various positions; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in IllinoisCPR/AED CertifiedTechnical Skills and experience necessary to meet student health and safety needs
