POSITION SUMMARY : The Speech Language Pathologist will provide speech language services to students with speech and language disabilities.

At the time of application, the candidate must hold or be eligible for:A Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.A Maryland License in Speech Language Pathology.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS : (These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities, and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of employment, the candidate must have:
Knowledge of speech and language disabilities and appropriate therapy strategies.Demonstrate diagnostic skills in the area of speech and language development.Knowledge of and ability to administer speech and language assessment instruments.Ability to write evaluation reports and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).Knowledge of Special Education and the IEP process.Knowledge of the Medicaid billing process.Knowledge of educational and psychological assessments.Knowledge of the general education curriculum.Understanding of and ability to maintain rapport with persons from diverse, cultural, ethnic, and racial groups.Demonstrated interpersonal skills when working with diverse groups (parents, other professionals, students, teachers, administrators, community agency representatives).Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.Demonstrate success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES:
Administers speech and language assessments to students.Writes evaluation reports based on assessment results within given timelines.Provides speech and language therapy on an individual and group basis to students as prescribed by a student's IEP.Provides consultation services to classroom teachers.Observes students and provide screening information to IEP teams.Attends IEP meetings.Develops IEPs and writes IEP goals and objectives within given timelines.Maintains data and provides quarterly progress reports.Completes and submits monthly Medicaid billing forms and therapy documentation.Participates in parent conferences and team meetings.Demonstrates initiative and self-regulation.Maintains good organizational skills and professionalThinks, concentrates, and interacts positively with others.Comes to work promptly every day.Works flexible hours as necessary.Works under stress and meets all deadlines.Travels from school to school as necessary.
OTHER JOB DUTIES : (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Performs related work as required or assigned by the Director of Special Education.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION :Current Maryland Licensure in Speech Language Pathology
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS :May be subject to a flexible work schedule.
FLSA STATUS : Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :Ten (10) month or eleven (11) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools' salary schedule for teachers. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
EVALUATION :Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION :2024-2025 school year
