Materials Research Institute
at Penn State is looking to hire a
Sponsored Project Manager , who will manage interactions with external customers and implement effective management practices to ensure that the deliverables meet targeted timelines for the
Silicon Carbide Innovation Alliance (SCIA) and the Center for Atomically Thin Multifunctional Coatings (ATOMIC) . These organizations are administratively housed with the Materials Research Institute under the office of the Senior Vice President for Research.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:
Manage interactions with internal and external customers.Manage SCIA and ATOMIC business and training operationsCoordinate quarterly and biannual advisory board meetings including communication strategy and the development of successful approaches for optimizing outcomes/productivity and reporting development for the meetingsLead the development and implementation of communications plans to external and internal stakeholdersCollaborate with the Directors on effective strategies for project management and training efforts that impact the centers, such as budget and facilitiesImplement effective manage practices that ensure deliverables meet established timelinesEducation and Experience:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment and will include interfacing with users and among the range of career levels (undergrad through full professor) and industry professionals
Specific desired experience:
Knowledge of requirements and experience in contributing to project reporting to agencies including writing, reviewing or synthesizing report content.Development of operations, engagement or training programsExperience with web content management systems and maintaining content development for websites.Knowledge of university policy and procedures for a broad set of applications related to externally funded projects
This is a limited term position funded for 1 year from the start date, with excellent possibility of renewal.
