Job Summary
The Senior Azure Data Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, shaping, and storing data using Azure-based tools to support Kroger's Supply Chain operations. The role focuses on leveraging Databricks notebooks, managing data lakes, and partnering with business teams to deliver data-driven insights. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Terraform, and will contribute to acquiring, understanding, and modeling data from source systems to the Supply Chain Data Estate.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and leverage Databricks notebooks to source, shape, and store data using SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Work with Azure Data Lake (Gen 2) to manage, hydrate, and maintain data for supply chain operations.
• Utilize Unity Catalog, Alation, and Power BI for data cataloging, governance, and visualization.
• Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate with the business and data teams to acquire, model, and deliver data from source systems into the Supply Chain Data Estate.
• Continuously evaluate and learn new tools to expand data capabilities and drive supply chain operations and planning.
Required Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake (Gen 2) and Azure Databricks.
• Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Experience with data cataloging tools such as Unity Catalog and Alation.
• Proficiency in using Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to model, process, and manage large datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in supply chain data management and operations.
• Experience working with cloud-based tools in Azure for large-scale data projects.

Bachelors Degree
