Primary Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Manager with a broad range of Corporate Tax experience who is looking for a challenging new position. This role is responsible for managing the start to finish process of identifying, qualifying and maximizing R&D tax incentives for our clients. You will collaborate closely with our clients, technical experts, and financial professionals to ensure accurate and timely claims. This is a new role for BGM, and we are interested in speaking to candidates who have a desire and the skills to develop a line of business from scratch, alongside our team. This position will require someone who is willing to utilize their expertise to develop and build business strategy, process, and procedures. In the short term, this person must be willing to work independently and perform all functions within the R&D claims process. In the long term, this person must have the ability to select, train and motivate a team of qualified professionals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform detailed analysis all available financial data to determine eligibility for R&D tax credits and understand risks and benefit to R&D claims and ensure accurate calculations occurWork with clients to gather and understand all necessary information and documentation for claim preparation, to develop appropriate methodologiesPerform detailed tax analysis of risks related to R& D claims based on wider tax knowledge and experience of legislation reviewReview of tax computations and implications for R&DPrepare technical review and written reporting on your findings for each project and clientStay up to date with relevant tax legislations and regulations; be SME on R&D tax credits for the firm and it's clientsProvides timely and high-quality services exceeding client expectationsIdentify additional areas of service and planning opportunitiesResearch and consult on various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested, and make recommendations to the client for considerationRecommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issuesMaintains legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised lawsMaintains compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authoritiesRevises procedures by developing and streamlining procedures and worksheets for calculation of tax provisionsProactively build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client engagementsInvests in updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizationsIf desired, may participate in new client development through marketing and networking activitiesRequired Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field5-7+ years public accounting experience with recent experience specializing in R&D Tax CreditsAdvanced knowledge of tax accounting principles, IRS regulations and R&D tax credit incentives and issuesCurrent CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam preferredStrong experience with tax planning and tax strategyTechnical and tax research skillsAbility to identify and propose resolutions to certain income tax issuesA successful team member enjoys working with a wide variety of clients, and demonstrates organizational, technical skill, and effective communication while enjoying contributing to a fun, professional working environment.Understanding of financial statements and accountingPrior experience servicing clients in the private sector preferredProactive in researching business best practice concepts in order to apply as appropriateSolid listening skills and ability to identify gaps in logic - inquisitiveStrong organization and follow up skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitmentsAbility to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to changeDemonstrated ability to lead a small team and ensure successful resultsAbility to give and follow instructions accurately and efficiently, proactive in asking clarifying questions to ensure work effort is directed wholly toward desired outcomeExcellent communication skills along with great or developing negotiation skillsWillingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challengesAbility to travel to client sites when neededDemonstrates a positive, can-do attitudeWhat You'll Love About Us
