Alternative Trading System (ATS) Product Architect [6-9 Month Contract]

Office Location: Jersey City, NJ or Dallas, TX

About the Team & Role:

We are seeking an experienced Product Architect to take ownership of the design and strategic direction for a state-of-the-art Alternative Trading System (ATS) Matching Engine. In this role, you will be the key liaison between business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring that the matching engine not only meets functional needs but also adheres to market demands and regulatory compliance. This position requires a strong background in financial markets, ATS regulations, order matching mechanisms, and the technical challenges of modern trading systems. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our ATS platform and driving innovation in the trading space.

What You'll Do:

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

Define the product architecture and roadmap for the ATS matching engine, ensuring it aligns with the company's overall business objectives and customer needs. Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize product features, balancing market demand, regulatory requirements, and system performance. Drive the vision for the matching engine's core functionality, including order matching logic, risk management features, and execution quality metrics. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

Translate business and regulatory requirements into detailed product specifications for the development teams. Gather input from trading desks, operations, compliance, and clients to ensure the system addresses all functional needs. Conduct competitive analysis to understand market trends and identify product differentiation opportunities. Collaborate with Technical Teams:

Work closely with engineering teams to ensure that technical design aligns with product vision. Provide guidance on the implementation of key features, including matching algorithms, order routing, and performance optimization. Ensure that the product is scalable, resilient, and optimized for low-latency trading. Regulatory and Compliance Alignment:

Ensure the ATS product architecture meets the necessary rules and regulations (e.g., SEC, FINRA). Incorporate pre-trade and post-trade risk controls, surveillance, and compliance features into the product roadmap. Partner with compliance teams to ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory changes and standards. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Drive innovation by staying up-to-date with the latest in trading technology, financial markets, and regulatory developments. Continuously evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies to enhance the ATS matching engine. Propose and implement product improvements based on client feedback, industry trends, and regulatory changes. What You Bring:

7+ years of experience in product management, product architecture, or a related role, with a focus on trading systems or financial technology. Proven experience working with or developing ATS platforms, exchanges, or other order matching systems with a focus on execution quality. Deep understanding of order matching, FIX protocol, market data feeds, and order routing. Deep knowledge of ATS platforms. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management practices in the trading space. Experience with performance optimization, scalability, and system resilience in a trading environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working on large-scale, low-latency systems in a financial trading environment. Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud-based deployment. Base pay for a successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is

$150,000 - $220,000 (Paid hourly, in accordance with the Contractor agreement)

. This role is also eligible to participate in our discretionary bonus plan.
