The purpose of this position is to orchestrate and influence the work of others to enhance Kaweah Health's mission and vision and to achieve strategic priorities of the nursing division. Demonstrates high-level leadership accountability focused on safety and the requisite infrastructures necessary to meet expectations of the patients and families served.

License /Certification

License /Certification

Required: CA RN license

Preferred: National certification in nursing leadership or specialty.

Education

Required: BSN or MSN

Experience

Required: Five years of management experience in nursing leadership.

Essential

Ensure that nursing care is safe, meets quality standards, and anticipates future requirements of patients and medical staff.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining an attitude of cooperation, caring, and courtesy among staff members and others. Follows up and resolves problems and complaints.

Maintains an awareness of changes in Surgical Services nursing practice and of the influence of public policy on nursing and patient care for areas of responsibility. Plans/implements change accordingly.

Develops and maintains communication systems which facilitate high quality patient care, effective staff development, and positive medical staff relationships, using hospital resources prudently.

Provides for orientation, in-service, and continuing education of staff.

Establishes and maintains appropriate standards for the Surgical Services program and ensures that standards are consistently followed.

Provides clinical leadership for Surgical Services through the development of long range plans defining goals and objectives.

Responsible for formulating a budget based on department philosophy, goals and objectives. Operates areas of responsibility within approved budget guidelines.

Maintains knowledge of day to day operations within each area of responsibility.

Establishes productive working relationships with medical staff, Kaweah Health departments, and community members.

Works with Medical Staff and others as appropriate to develop, enhance, and market patient care programs.STANDARD: Implements at least one new successful patient care service/program or improvement of an existing program through effective planning and awareness of community need. Plan reflects consideration and involvement of Medical Staff and other appropriate groups potentially affected by the change.

Attends various meetings.

Establishes standardization of patient care delivery within Surgical Services area.

Integrates the department/services with the Kaweah Health's primary functions.

Develops and implements policies and procedures consistent with the Kaweah Health Mission that guide and support the Provision of Services Plan.

Determines the qualifications and competence level for department staff. Makes recommendations regarding required staffing levels.

Continuously assesses and improves department performance.

Provides orientation, in-services and continuing education for staff.

Recommends requirements for space and other resources. Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.

Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research which could impact department and the Kaweah Health.

Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Pay Range$80.43 -$120.65
