Vernon Hills High School Athletic Director
Responsibilities:
The Athletic Director is responsible for the planning, budgeting, organization, implementation, and supervision of the Athletic Department at Vernon Hills High School. The Athletic Director is also responsible for administering all interscholastic policies and procedures working within the confines of the rules and by-laws of the Illinois High School Athletic Association, Central Suburban League and Community High School District 128 Board policies and procedures.

SYSTEMS:
Establishes and facilitates the short-term and long-term vision and goals of the Department of Athletics.Organizes and administers District extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic.Coordinates with an Athletic Office staff including an Assistant Athletic Director, Administrative Assistant, Seasonal Event Supervisors and Extracurricular assistanceAssumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.Hires officials, sports medicine personnel, and security as required, and assumes general responsibility for proper supervision of home and away contests.Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.Verifies each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport.Verifies physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season.Plans and supervises recognition programs for school athletes.EQUITY:
Develops and implements initiatives to promote equitable access and participation in athletics for all students, addressing barriers related to gender, socioeconomic status, and other forms of diversity.Partners with coaches, staff, and community organizations to foster an inclusive and respectful athletic environment, ensuring equitable representation and support across all sports programs.STAFFING AND PROFESSIONAL LEARNING:
Selects, mentors, and evaluates athletic coaches and department staff members.Plans professional development and growth experiences for coaches and Athletic Department staff that aligns with the core values, beliefs, and expectations of VHHS.BUDGET/RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
Prepares and administers the athletic program budget and requisitions program supplies and equipment.Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.Works with visiting teams to ensure a smooth arrival and departure from athletic contests.Makes arrangements for non-school use of athletic fields and facilities including field and gym practice schedules.COLLABORATION:
Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulation governing the conduct of athletic activities according to Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and the Central Suburban League (CSL).CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Assists in the overall evaluation of programs and services providing input, support, and data to building and district administration as requested.Facilitates student athletic leadership programs.COMMUNITY:
Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of the athletic programming events and news.Manages athletic links and information on the district's webpage.Assists with development, participation and communication of Booster Club.Collaborates with Sending Schools, the Vernon Hills Park District and the Village of Vernon Hills to host events at Vernon Hills HS facilities.
