POSITION SUMMARYApproves or denies first and/or second mortgage loans by performing the following duties. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from loan applications to more effectively manage the credit risk within our real estate portfolios. The position requires the team member to interact with management as well as external personnel on significant lending matters. The position also requires previous loan officer/underwriter experience and the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet investor and portfolio guidelines.
Evaluates acceptability of loan to corporations that buy real estate loans on secondary mortgage markets, where existing mortgages are bought and sold by investors.
Verify that mortgage loan packages are ready for final delivery to investor.
Recommends loan approval or denial, specifying investor and institution guidelines and basis for declining application, such as insufficient cash reserves.
Follow up on loan conditions and clear conditions submitted by loan officers prior to funding.
Approves or rejects loan application, or requests additional information specific to KSFCU portfolio loans.
Assists with loan consultants training; provides technical guidance to less-experienced personnel. Verify adherence with established real estate policies and procedures. Communicate with appropriate Management concerning review and implementation of necessary corrective action and recommendations for the further training and development of the loan consultants.
All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEMinimum 10 years financial services experience and a minimum of 5 years real estate lending (loan officer or similar experience is preferred), to include secondary market, Desk top underwriting systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
