The Duke University Office for Central Human Resources is seeking an experienced, resourceful, and engaged Senior Human Resources Consultant to join our talented team. This is a fantastic opportunity to pl ay a crucial role in advising and assisting management, faculty and staff with responding to employee issues and concerns. In this capacity, you will be responsible for interpreting HR policies and procedures; making responsible recommendations as necessary and appropriate and; initiating recommendations for appropriate measures to address underlying systemic problems or issues, which may include providing suggestions on policy clarification or development, interpreting collective bargaining agreement provisions, and developing and delivering training or other interventions.

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, higher education administration or a related field is re quired.
Five (5) years of demonstrated HR experience working in a dynamic, complex service-oriented culture that advances multiple missions and serves a wide array of stakeholders.
Intimate knowledge of, and first-hand experience with, employee relations and investigations best practices, labor laws, collective bargaining, human resources trends, programs, policies and procedures.
Ability to quickly build coalitions and networks to maximize success.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree in human resource management, business administration, high er education administration or a related field, to include a legal background.
Demonstrating project management experience with the ability to conduct research and analysis.
Demonstrating leadership s kills and an ability to think independently and make sound, strategic, legally compliant decisions in a timely fashion.
This exempt position is hybrid, with the Senior HR Consultant expected to work on-site, or at a designated assignment location, a minimum of two (2) days per week. The Senior HR Consultant must al so reside in a Duke University-approved state.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration or higher education administration. A master's degree in a related discipline is desirable.
Experience
Work requires five years of demonstrated HR management experience in a dynamic complex service culture with multiple missions. Experience in a health care and/or research setting preferred. Significant professional management experience and leadership skills. Must possess expert knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, human resources trends, programs, policies, practices and procedures. Must be able to build coalitions/networks to maximize success.
