Senior Payroll Accountant
(Hybrid - Columbia, SC)
The
Senior Payroll Accountant
is under minimal supervision to accurately audit and review payroll and tax data to identify variance, ensuring all entries align with internal policies and industry regulations. This role will reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, identify reconciling items, and take appropriate corrective actions; monitor and record financial transactions in adherence to company policies and accounting regulations and; organize and maintain accounting documents, ensuring they are readily available for audits and reviews. The Accountant will performcomplex financial transactions with a thorough understanding of payroll regulations and general accounting principles. This role will prepare accurate accounting reports ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial data; perform internal audits to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and audit compliance; and collaborate with the financial reporting and audit teams to evaluate and improve financial policies, procedures, and implement audit policies, ensuring integrity and compliance. Reconcile semi-monthly payroll wage and tax data, identify discrepancies, make corrective entries, and submit tax payments to third-party vendors.
What you'll doAudit wage and tax data , and submission of federal payroll tax deposits and other statutory tax paymentsReconcile payroll general ledger accounts
and making notes of debits and credits that have not been posted and identifying and correct any errorsPrepare adjusting journal entries
for reconciling entries.Monitor and record
financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.Organize accounting records
and handle complex transactions with a complete understanding of payroll and general accounting.Partner with HR, Accounting, Operations , and other cross-functional teams to ensure payroll entries are accurately costedControl, analyze, audit, and prepare
appropriate accounting reconciliation and reports ensuring timely and accurate reporting of all financial data.Conduct HR audits
for key and non-key controls to include annual reviews, and updates to ensure working practices are in alliance with ICFR, Internal, and FCA controls.Perform pay fraud control
for the bank with the salary control key control.Reconcile semi-monthly payroll
wage and tax data, identifying variances, making corrective entries, and submitting tax payments to third-party vendor (ADP)What you'll need
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related discipline or related proven work experience5+ years' professional level work performing accounting and or financial reporting functionsCertified Payroll Professional (CPP)Proficient with general accounting principles and in analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reportingDemonstrated expertise in managing complex payroll and benefits-specific accountsAdept at leveraging analytical skills and attention to detail to address discrepancies
