A client is looking for a remote Linux Systems Administrator (IT System Administrator II). The role will be remote for the duration of the contract but once converting permanent there will be onsite requirements. candidate must sit in NC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for effective installation configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. The system administration responsibilities will be focused on maintaining and enhancing the stability and performance of the systems, continuous monitoring of system health, troubleshooting issues that arise, and maintaining and improving the security posture of the systems.
This position will be accountable for Linux servers and related application systems that support the clients services. Responsibilities on these systems include installation, configuration and support of both production and development server and storage infrastructure. Tasks will include design, documentation and subsequent installation, configuration and support of infrastructure required to sustain the various phases of server and storage implementation, from development to live transition and support, as well as disaster recovery design and maintenance that includes yearly testing or as required.
This position will also share responsibility for the vulnerability management processes for the operational infrastructure, including regression testing and implementation.

Required Skills & Experience-Bachelors degree and 3-5 years of experience, or Masters degree and 3 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator.-Strong skills in Red Hat Linux administration, including shell scripting, cron jobs, user/group management, and system security.-Experience with Linux security measures, vulnerability management, and regular patching.-Knowledge of web servers (Apache, Tomcat), as well as protocols like DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SSH, SMTP, and LDAP.-VMware experience required; OCI experience is beneficial, and familiarity with Azure is a plus.-Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls/iptables) and experience with certificate management.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience-Familiarity with Satellite and Kickstart-Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) is a plus-Familiarity with Nutanix storage and NAS systems, Docker and container technologies a plus-Proficiency with automated management tools like Change Tracker, RHEL Satellite, OpenManage, and Nagios.
