Position Summary:
The WIOA Job Placement Specialist offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, organized and flexible professional to utilize their support and program expertise in order to support job matching and connection to sector based employment for post program OSOW youth and under skilled community population. The Train & Earn (T&E) Program is a career pathways program for youth and young adults ages 16-24 that provides work readiness support, occupational skills training, and employment services, along with supportive services such as High School Equivalency (HSE) classes, paid internships, comprehensive case management, and access to post-secondary education and sector-based credential training.
This person will report to and work closely with the WIOA Director of Employer Engagement and overall Workforce sectoral team to increase and diversify placement opportunities for all the workforce development programs serving young adults ages 16-24 and working age 18+. The WIOA Job Placement Specialist will support the strategic program plan for mapping, researching, prospecting and securing sector based prospects, working with workforce team case managers to help match participants with employment options and lead support all relevant partner engagement.
They must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, continually evolving environment and thrive in a collaborative and team-oriented workplace. This person should be a "go-getter" in approaching the work while remaining collaborative in team efforts. They must possess a strong passion for the fight to build thriving communities and the motivation to enact real change in an innovative and dynamic organization.
Salary Range: $55,000 to $60,000 - salary is commensurate with education, training, and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Possess a strong understanding of the Train & Earn program to support job matching to place 80% of enrolled program participants and community members.Understand the workforce sector based programs, including industries, companies, projects, company contacts and which market strategies can be used to attract clients.Support in the research and identifying of prospective employers in targeted sectors, pursue leads, and negotiate agreement terms and secure relationships with employers.Use strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to develop and maintain partnerships with program graduates & key stakeholders related to employment, training options and the growth and success of the program.Convene and facilitate regular meetings and site visits with program participants and partners to assess progress, identify challenges and determine solutions to address them productively.Work collaboratively with the Director of Employer Engagement and Case Managers to collect info, provide input, insight and support job placement for program completers and community members.Qualifications:
Minimum 2+ years' experience developing worksites, providing career coaching and counseling, job matching and working in the field of youth workforce development.A previous knowledge of sector-based work strongly preferred.Bachelor's degree preferred, High School Diploma/Equivalent required.Experience with capturing, logging and interpreting data is required. Excellent analytical thinking, judgment and decision-making skills.Have proven ability to prioritize and execute deliverables efficiently and timely with minimum supervision.Ability to travel throughout New York City.
