Tesla Factory Engineering is looking for an Engineering Manager to play a critical role in the design of the infrastructure systems supporting the Facilities and Manufacturing teams at Giga Texas in Austin, TX. This role will be leading our process and pipe stress engineering disciplines. This person will manage a high-performance team focused on chemical & utility projects related to vehicle production and Tesla's industry-leading AI initiatives. The manager will work cross-functionally with various internal and external stakeholders, interfacing with both manufacturing engineering and facilities engineering teams to ensure delivery of safe, reliable project scopes within schedule and budget expectations.
Responsibilities
Successfully deliver design packages for large, design build, and self-performed construction projectsProvide oversight and direction for your teams to ensure project success, including meeting project intent, design schedule, and construction schedule within approved fundingPromote a work culture focused on safety, process safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, both project- and company-wide, by coaching, mentoring, and empowering team membersExemplify extreme ownership by demonstrating and encouraging clear, effective communication, prioritization of business-critical work, and effective problem solvingProvide sitewide strategic direction for factory layout planning, project staffing, and help bridge information silos across various programs and project teamsEmploy a "can do" attitude, while providing the best product for your respective projects' customers or end users, keeping projects moving forward and fixing concerns as they ariseFoster a collaborative and innovative environment amongst your team's and those within the greater Factory Engineering and Infrastructure groups to help Tesla succeed in accelerating the worlds transition to sustainable energyRequirements
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experienceRegistration as a Professional Engineer in Texas is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain comity licensure within 6 months may be acceptable for exceptional candidatesIdeally 8+ years of experience executing large industrial design and construction projects in a related industry (battery, chemical, semiconductor, oil & gas, etc.)Advanced knowledge and proven delivery on chemical, mechanical, process controls and process safety scopes. Provide oversight and direction to project teams to ensure project successAbility to train and mentor colleagues on best practices in chemical process design, process safety, facilities layout and planning, and pipe routing and support strategiesWillingness to get into detailed engineering as needed to complete objectives and lead your teams through challenging projectsAbility to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely aggressive goals and timelinesCompensation and BenefitsBenefits
