About the Role:Discusses & negotiates individual deals with clients and brokers.Analyses and assesses technical insurability regarding exposures and coverage on new offer and renewal submissionsPrepares quotations, structures programs, and offers proposals in accordance with guidelinesUses SR tools and systems for the development of terms and conditionsEnters and maintains risk information into the various information systems and administers the accountsEstablishes and maintains specific industry sector know-howCoaching of less experienced staff.Strong business and client focus with proven business impactDiverse industry experience a plusRepresents Swiss Re in meetings with clients, brokers, and other Swiss Re Group entitiesRegular contact with brokers and clients which require competent technical know-how, negotiation- and language skills, initiative and service orientationWorks effectively within client teamsThe position may be flexible for US work location depending on the applicant's experience and qualifications.
About You:
In depth Industry knowledge of the Property E&S marketMinimum 3 to 5 years underwriter experience or equivalent for Underwriter level; 7 to 10 years for Senior UnderwriterNegotiating skills in placement of E&S Property placementsKnowledge and proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, and guidelinesKeeps abreast of market environment and trendsExcellent marketing and communication skillsAbility to work in a team environmentComfortable providing quick responses and managing fluctuating workloadWillingness to expend extra efforts to cover peak workloadsRecognized in peer group as a leading Production Underwriter.Demonstrated ability to independently make and support underwriting decisions, while keeping in mind the impact of individual deal decisions on the shape of a portfolio
For the right candidate, the position location could be flexible to a number of our Swiss Re offices. For roles located within our Swiss Re offices, our company has a hybrid work model where the expectations is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.
For New York and California, the estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $246,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
This role is not eligible for either location assistance or visa sponsorship.
